We had guests over for dinner this past Friday, and I have found that a stir fry is one of the easier things to cook for company. Typically I would cheat and use a pre-made Teriyaki sauce, but unfortunately one of my guests is gluten-free, and much to my surprise there is gluten in Teriyaki and soy sauce. So of course I decide to make a teriyaki sauce from scratch, using a gluten-free soy sauce. I am extremely pleased at how well it turned out. Hope you enjoy this homemade sauce as much as we all did!
Prep & cook time: 5-10 minutes
Yields 2 cups sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce (gluten free)
1 cup water
3 tbsp brown sugar
1 garlic clove, minced
1 tbsp ginger, minced
1-2 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 cup water
Combine all ingredients but cornstarch and 1/4 cup water in a pot on the stove. Bring to a boil. Stir cornstarch into cold water, and add slowly to sauce in pot while stirring. Turn heat down to low and simmer until sauce has reached desired thickness. If too thick, add water by the tbsp until it looks good to you.
Use for stir fry, marinating, anything!
